“Never give in–never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”
Sir Winston Churchill
If you ask most sports people, entrepreneurs and other highly successful people, the one key common factor in their success is determination. They can phrase it as determination, dedication or perseverance, but the ability to never stop or give up is paramount.
The tales abound of men and women, who have overcome fantastic odds to succeed. Whether these challenges are financial, physical, mental or any other disadvantages, they have had the ferocious determination and discipline to climb their own personal Mount Everest.
“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”
Vince Lombardi
A gentleman’s determination to succeed, whether in personal challenges, business, romance or life as a whole, is a value that inspires admiration. The ability to keep going when the road is tough and full of challenges makes him a better man.
“If your determination is fixed, I do not counsel you to despair. Few things are impossible to diligence and skill. Great works are performed not by strength, but perseverance.”
Samuel Johnson
A Gentleman’s Hint:
Each morning when you wake up, write down one small thing that you want to achieve that day. (do the shopping, make that sales call, write your profile update).
Make sure you do it and then cross it off your list at night.
Do it for a week and then add a second thing a day the next week, do the thing and cross it off.
Continue adding each week for a month and then see what you have achieved.
