boot 1As night follows day; winter follows autumn, and living in the UK that means filthy weather, rain and mud, even on the streets of London town. And there is also a likelihood of snow at some point.

This is the time when any sensible Gentleman takes a look at his fine leather soled shoes and beautifully polished uppers and thinks that it may be time to put them away for the spring and more clement weather. But what to wear in their stead.

Gentleman I commend to you the Dealer boot, also known (in town) as the Chelsea boot. I have an exceptionally strong and well worn pair which I use all the time at home and which have served me well in all sorts of inclement weather.

They typically come with a rubber sole which is great on slippery pavements, they are a boot so they protect the ankles from the cold and damp, and finally, they usually come with very handy loops which will help you drag them on in the dark of a winter morning.

boot 2As I searched the web for a suitable boot I was very taken with the small British company

Sowerby Footwear who have been producing a high quality traditional dealer boots for three generations since 1927. The company was started by brothers Arthur and William Sowerby who opened a chain of stylish shoe and repair shops in Stourbridge and the surrounding area. Their aim was to offer high quality, timeless Dealer boots to the discerning English Gentleman.

The current generation of the Sowerby family continues with these aims today producing  real stitch welted leather Dealer boots with a commitment of to be  best in the field .

The range covers both Town and Country so what ever the weather you can remain footsure, warm and dry.

The boots are made to an extremely high quality to be reliability and hardwearing and they will become firm friends in the British autumns and winters.

We particularly like the Stanton boot with Gaucho brown greasy leather uppers and  stitch welted commando ‘Itside’ soles which are particularly sure footed in all conditions. Other styles are available in black or brown and will work in most conditions, even with a suit.

So no more worrying about your fine leather shoes or ‘slip sliding away’ on muddy pavements, your salvation is at hand; The Dealer Boot.
