New year resolution to become GentlemanIt’s nearly the New Year and as the strains of Auld Lang Syne fade and the champagne glasses are placed in the dishwasher our thoughts will inevitably turn to New Year’s resolutions.

Just think back and try to remember what you resolved last year; I bet you can’t think. But here at the Perfect Gentleman we think we have the three tenets to follow that will lead you to be happier and more successful in your life in 2013.

We believe that if you resolve to be more Respectful, more Stylish and ultimately more Gentlemanly in 2013 then your prospects at home and work will improve.

Resolve to be Respectful

There are three levels to respect – yourself, other people and the world at large.

Respecting yourself, is about being concerned about your health and fitness, how you look and what you wear and crucial about how you think.
Respecting others is very simple, think about other people, treat them as you would like to be treated. Especially those close to you, we tend to take them for granted, when we should not.
Respect for the world at large, is about how we interact with the world our behaviour in public, how we treat the environment we live in.
Respect is one of the core values of the gentleman, and one that has been the fundamental principle of not only all the major religions, spiritual teachers but humanists, philosophers and great thinkers.

Resolve to be Stylish

Fashion is of the now, style is timeless. Think of the icons of style, Cary Grant, George Clooney and Audrey Hepburn. These men and women, where effortlessly stylish and never what one could call a ‘fashion victim’. Style is about learning the basics of dress, grooming and style, then applying them with flair.
Make it your choice next year to think about your scent, the clothes you wear and the impression you make. It will not only make you feel more confident, you will be more confident.

A well turned out gentleman, will always turn heads.

Resolve to be Gentlemanly

It seems the the gentlemen has faded into a dream, people talk nostalgically about Downton Abbey and women swoon at Mr Darcy and complain bitterly about the lack of manners on the street and the lack of ethics in the Boardroom.
IT HAS NOT faded! Being a Gentleman is something you learn and not something you are born into. We believe that it and the commons manners and decency that went along with it are just not being taught. So endeavour to learn the skills to improve yourself and improve the world around you.
As every lady we know says, ‘the world would be a better place with more Gentlemen in it’. Therefore strive to be aware of how you behave to yourself and others and take care in how others regard you.

It may be that you can achieve all of these things yourself, however The Perfect Gentleman can help, join us for the inaugural Becoming the Perfect Gentleman”event on the 12th and 13th of January.

Resolve to be the Perfect Gentleman in 2013 as we make this year, the year of The Rise of the Gentleman
